Mantelstukken
A contemporary ritual piece that nods to the traditional fireplace mantel.
Mantelstuk recalls the role the classic mantel once played: a place where objects gathered, where stories took shape, where meaning settled in material things. In many homes, fireplaces have disappeared, but the need for a central focal point remains. Mantelstuk brings back that place in a contemporary, understated form.
Crafted from carefully selected solid woods (oak, padauk or walnut), each type a subtle wink to the natural stones of the past, it expresses its own character: warm, powerful or gentle. This object invites meaning.
It can become the resting place for a photo you want to keep close, a cherished memorial card, a child’s drawing, a stone found on a walk, a glass of wine waiting a moment, or simply a gathering of small things that might otherwise be lost. Little anchors. Little stories. Tangibly present in the room.
Mantelstuk doesn’t commit to a single posture. Thanks to a simple yet clever mounting system, it can be placed in three directions (horizontal, vertical or diagonal) and the user can change its orientation with ease, no new holes, no screws needed. It stays adaptable, shifting with the way it is used.
More than a shelf, it is a contemporary ritual object. A small place that quietly makes room; for memory, imagination and meaning.
